Robinson R44 Type Rating
We can teach you to fly ab initio on either of the Robinson Helicopters, and in a few instances we start on the R44, but the Robinson R44 type rating is the usual route that most ppl pilots go after they have initially learned on the RobinsonR22.
The Robinson R44 Type Rating consists of a minimum of 5 hour training and then a flight test with a CAA examiner. All helicopter types (the different makes and models) are deemed different enough in operation and handling that the CAA requires pilots to hold a separate rating for each type that they fly.
It is considered that all type rating entrants hold an existing PPL before they sit a type rating, therefore the course is designed to cover the differences that each helicopter type has and as such does not have a navigation element to for example.
